I unfortunately was not able to attend any shows on Day 3 of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, but if I did, I would've definitely gone to the Menswear showcase. It was a day for unique men of fashion, celebrating the progression of dynamic and minimalist androgynous menswear that has no doubt emerged as a trend in recent years. The transformation of the male form through these clean cut futuristic designs can be seen in the collections of Zsadar, From Britten, Kalb & Etiw and Injury.
Zsadar SS12
Zsadar's collection exudes both earthy minimalism and elements of mechanical steam punk fashion. It is the distortion of minor details and the focus on fabrics which create these unique pieces art in itself, and may I say, the septum piercings remind me of Givenchy FW12...
From Britten SS12
Words cannot explain how happy I am to see a hint of London luxury street wear in From Britten's latest collection. The cult status of luxury street wear in London has made the style nearly impossible to bring down under, and now From Britten has made clear to Australian men that this style is one not to be messed with, just like the chaps who first gave this style it's status.
Injury SS12
Attention grabbing prints have been something that men usually avoid, but Injury have proven that prints need not be ignored, but embraced. The bold prints are toned down with greyscale and muted colours, enhancing its ability to be worn on the street, without deterring those style stares. Make a statement on the street with Injury's new collection!
Make sure to check out the collections from other shows during the day including Zimmermann, Lisa Ho, Alice McCall, Sara Phillips, Ellery, Watson x Watson, Kooey and An Ode To No One.
