What I find interesting about Deborah Turbeville's work, is the feeling of the girls. Soft, sensible and almost dreamy. The structure of the face, and the atmosphere they create, captures your thoughts. Her appreciation for the clothes in the pictures, may come from her background at Harper's Bazaar or working as a designer for Claire McCardell. Speaking of fashion, Damir Doma used her photography as inspiration for his fall winter 2011-12 collection. He was clearly inspired, as he said himself, the statue-impression of the photos, as a reference for his platform shoes.
"The look of the girl was in the collection. I always think about statues when I think of her photography. So I really tried to put the girls on these high platform shoes, like on stands or playing with these super narrow aprons to make them statue-like."
Now I have to deal with getting finished with my latin class. We're currently watching a movie about Pompei's extinction. Have to start adopting my mind for tonight's intake of alcohol. Au revoir.
