Interview via Dazed Digital
Dazed Digital: How old are you?
Florencia Kozuch: I am 23.
DD: How long have you been designing?
Florencia Kozuch: I've been drawing forever. But I guess I was designing properly since I was 11.
DD: Where are you based?
Florencia Kozuch: In Streatham Hill at the moment but looking for new accommodation.
DD: How would you describe your own style?
Florencia Kozuch: I would like to say individual, but I guess its a mix of classic garments and a bit of rock’n’roll.
DD: Who would you like to collaborate with?
Florencia Kozuch: Stephen Jones, Jurgen Teller and Kanye West amongst others...
DD: Who do you have in mind when you design?
Florencia Kozuch: A forward-thinking, strong, individual woman. Unafraid and stylish.
DD: What inspires you at the moment?
Florencia Kozuch: Fetish wear, Gossip Girl, the Jesus and Mary Chain and the Onas (the Argentinian tribe who were the main source of inspiration for my graduate collection).
DD: Who are your favorite designers and why?
Florencia Kozuch: Karl Lagerfeld because he can do no wrong, old Balenciaga because his collections still look avant-garde. And I currently developed a Rodarte and Balmain crush.
DD: Were you interested in fashion while growing up?
Florencia Kozuch: Yes, I had a fabulously dressed mother and I think I can still remember what everyone wore on every Barmitzvah, wedding and birthday party I attended in my teenage years. I was addicted to FTV, MTV and any fashion magazine that I could get my hands on.
DD: What are the difficulties faced being a designer today?
Florencia Kozuch: First money, but I'm coming round to terms that I wont have any for quite a while so i'm working around it. and the tough competition, being sorrunded by talented people is both intimidating and inspiring.
DD: If you weren't designing, what would you be doing?
Florencia Kozuch: Probably cooking. I would love to be a chef or a landscape designer and live by the sea.
DD: What are your plans for the future?
Florencia Kozuch: At the moment I am working on an extension to my graduate collection as well as collaborating with other designers. My plan is to slowly set up my own brand here in London.
DD: Can we buy your collection?
Florencia Kozuch: Yes, I'll be honored! Please just get in touch.
